Wolfgang Poppelbaum
Wolfgang Poppelbaum (born June 20, 1939 in Vienna ) is a German lawyer and was head of the Hamburger Feuerkasse from 1978 to 1994 and chairman of the board of the Hamburger Feuerkasse Versicherungs- Aktiengesellschaft from 1994 to 2004 .
Life
After fleeing Vienna in 1944, he grew up in Dramfeld ( Göttingen district ), then in Lüneburg . There he graduated from high school Johanneum Lüneburg . He studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg , the University of Vienna , the University of Bonn and the University of Cologne . After completing the second state examination, he began working in the insurance industry at the Braunschweig public insurance company in 1969 , where, after working as a director's assistant and authorized representative, he was head of the department for human resources, administration, law, sales, advertising and public relations.
From 1 February In 1978 Poppelbaum was as Head ( Director active) Hamburg Feuerkasse. After being converted into a stock corporation on July 1, 1994, he was Chairman of the Management Board of Hamburger Feuerkasse Versicherungs-Aktiengesellschaft until his retirement on April 30, 2004.
Volunteering
Poppelbaum was also involved outside of the fire fund and held around 40 honorary posts. Among other things, he was Chairman of the Board of the Fire Brigade Accident Fund Hamburg (1978-2005) and Chairman of the Association for the Prevention of Theft (1988-2004). On December 22, 2003, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his voluntary work. At the University of Hamburg , Poppelbaum is a member of the speakers' council for contact studies for older adults.
