Harald Heinze (politician, 1941)

Harald Heinze (born April 6, 1941 in Bad Polzin ) is a German local politician ( SPD ). From 1982 to 1991 he was City Director of Dortmund .

Heinze has been a member of the SPD since 1962. In 1969 he was elected to the National Board of the Young Socialists .

Heinze was city treasurer from 1977 to 1982 and then senior city director of the city of Dortmund. He saw his special tasks in the modernization of the administration and the structural change of the city from the coal and steel industry to a modern service center. Together with the University of Dortmund and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, he founded the Dortmund Technology Park, which is still one of the leading technology centers in Germany today. In 1991 he switched to the city's own public utility, today DSW21 , of which he was chairman of the board from January 1992 to September 2006. He became known nationwide in 2003 through the takeover of Gelsenwasser AG - together with Stadtwerke Bochum -, of which he was chairman of the supervisory board until 2006.

After retiring from public office, Heinze became involved in the cultural and sporting fields. In 2008, donations were used to set up a separate venue for the Dortmund Children's Opera. He organized an international youth A soccer tournament for the “ Ruhr 2010 Capital of Culture ”. At Borussia Dortmund he held the position of deputy chairman of the supervisory board from 2005 to 2015.

In 2012, he took over the duties of the City Council of Dortmund for a transitional period of four months as a representative of the state government after it had been dissolved at short notice.
