Harald Kindermann

Harald Kindermann (born August 13, 1949 in Bielefeld ) is a German diplomat .

After studying law at the universities of Erlangen, Marburg and Cologne, he initially worked as a research assistant at the University of Gießen (1973–1978). After becoming a Dr. iur. doctorate (1979) he was also a lecturer in civil law and legal theory (1981–1987) in Giessen. He then worked at the Federal Ministry of Justice until 1992 .

After joining the Foreign Service in 1992, Kindermann was head of the Foreign Office's planning team until 1999.

From 1999 to 2003 he was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Saudi Arabia . Gerhard Enver Schrömbgens became his successor in September 2003 . From 2003 to February 2006 he was Michael Geier's predecessor as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bulgaria and from March 2006 to 2011 in Israel , where he was followed by Andreas Michaelis in July 2011 . From 2011 to 2014 he was ambassador to Sweden . From September 2014 to July 2017, Kindermann was Secretary General of the German Society for Foreign Policy .
