Harald Menges (born August 5, 1943 in Lüneburg ) is a German politician (CDU). From 1982 to 1990 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

Life

Menges attended elementary school and then completed an apprenticeship with the Deutsche Bundesbahn . In 1962 he began an eight-year service with the Federal Border Police (BGS) in Braunschweig . From 1970 he then worked as a security clerk at the Volkswagen plant in Salzgitter . He was involved as an honorary judge and most recently worked at the Lüneburg Higher Administrative Court. Menges is a member of IG Metall and, since 1972, of the CDU and the Christian Democratic Workforce (CDA). Menges was elected deputy state chairman of the CDA's social committees in 1976 and was a member of the CDA's Lower Saxony state board from 1985. Since 1976 he was deputy CDU district chairman. From 1981 to October 1985 he was a member and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group of the Braunschweig-Weststadt district council. From October 1986 he was councilor of the city of Braunschweig. As a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament, Menges belonged to the 10th and 11th electoral periods.
