Harald Seidl

Harald Seidl (born August 12, 1955 in Traun ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From November 2003 to November 2015 he was mayor of the Upper Austrian city ​​of Traun.

Life

Harald Seidl completed his Matura at a technical college , after which he worked as a site manager in a civil engineering company. He worked for the city of Wels for 20 years in the magistrate, in the areas of sewer and hydraulic engineering, later in control and internal auditing.

He is the initiator of the Tour de Traun cycling race . The race has a length of 127 kilometers from Obertraun via Bad Ischl , Gmunden and Wels to Traun and was held for the eighth time in 2012.

Harald Seidl is married and has two daughters.

Harald Seidl has been a member of the Traun City Council since 1995, and has been Deputy Mayor since 1996 with responsibility for the financial department in Traun. In addition, from 1997 he was also responsible for personnel matters. In the SPÖ Traun he was city party chairman.

He won the mayoral elections on September 28, 2003 with 61.7 percent of the valid votes. He took office on November 14, 2003 as the successor to Peter Schlögl. On September 27, 2009 he was re-elected with 57.44 percent of the valid votes. In November 2015 he was replaced as mayor by his comrade Rudolf Scharinger .
