Harald Wirth

Harald Wirth (born January 25, 1959 in Hof (Saale) ) is a German model builder who was included in the Guinness Book of Records in 1994 as the owner of the largest collection of match vehicles .

Wirth has been enthusiastic about matches since he was 10 years old, which he processes into detailed models.

Harald Wirth has been touring Europe with his works of art at international and national model making exhibitions since 1988. In 2001 he opened a private museum for matchstick models in Hof, which was closed in August 2015 due to the sale of the premises.

His models include: B.

  • a steam locomotive of the class 01 on a scale of 1: 43.5, which was built from 3,700 matches in over 700 working hours
  • a Ferrari almost 30 centimeters tall , the bonnet, doors, windows and steering wheel of which are movable. 640 hours of work and 3,700 matches go into this model
  • a tree with 17,000 leaves
  • a Gorch Fock , the Wiener Riesenrad from the Prater, a Wild West town, well-known car and motorcycle brands
