Haranga ( Mongolian Харанга; " Gong ") is a rock band that was founded in 1989 and was the first Mongolian band to play hard rock .

history

When it was founded on October 26, 1989 in Ulaanbaatar , the group did not yet have a name; only later did they call themselves Haranga . They played the first concert, entitled Amidral (“Life”), in the same year, and the tickets were sold out within half an hour. They played rock hits like Ügüilen sanana , Schuuder tsetseg , Ene bol durlal bisch , Tolin chul and Zöwhön Mongoldoo , which are still considered rock classics in Mongolia today.

The albums Erin zuuny chög and Best of Haranga were recorded in Germany and were sponsored by Daimler-Chrysler and Siemens Nixdorf. Sain baina uu Mongolia was played together in 1997 by Haranga and the German rock band Real Mother Fishermen, who were visiting Mongolia at the time.
