Professional background

After graduating from high school in Frechen, Hardy Fuß studied political science , history and philosophy at the University of Cologne. He then worked freelance in public relations and publishing. At the private boarding school "Paedagogium Wisniewski" in Neuss, Fuß worked as a teacher for philosophy and German. From 1982 to 1995 he worked as a speaker for Klaus Lennartz † and most recently as a research assistant in the German Bundestag. From 1995 to 2002, Fuß worked for various companies (e.g. Trienekens AG) in the environmental sector (UTG Gesellschaft für Umwelttechnik GmbH and ISIS Service GmbH) as an employee and managing director. From 2002 to 2012 he worked as an independent management consultant for companies dealing with sustainability projects and political corporate culture. He decided his time as a management consultant as the sole shareholder and general representative of AMBIVA Unternehmensberatung GmbH, wound up his GmbH and turned to the real estate sector.

Since 2012, Fuß has been working as a project developer (with a broker's license) in the real estate sector, with a focus on social real estate and conversion real estate. His business areas include in particular the upgrading of industrial and commercial wastelands and unused railway areas as well as the development of sustainable social real estate. In April 2012 he was the only German winner to receive the "Green Building Award 2012" for sustainable building from the European Commission for his client . The award was given to two particularly sustainable day-care centers in Hürth (Rhineland), in whose interdisciplinary development Fuß played a key role. Political career

Since the age of 16, Fuß has been involved in the SPD, first in local politics, then in the district council and in the state parliament. He won all seats in elections directly and was considered a pragmatic politician who was close to the people. From 2000 to 2005 Fuß was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and there in the environment committee and the transport committee. He was directly elected in constituency 013 Erftkreis III (Frechen, Hürth, Pulheim). From 1985 to January 2009 he was a member of the district assembly of the Rhein-Erft district and from 2000 to 2008 chairman of the SPD district assembly. From 1979 to 2009 member of the council of his hometown Frechen and there from 1988 to 2000 chairman of the SPD council group. He is the bearer of the honor ring of the city of Frechen. According to his own statements, Fuß liked to get involved in the dovetailing of the municipal and private economy. He was a member of the administrative board of Kreissparkasse Köln, founding member of the supervisory board of Stadtmarketing Frechen GmbH, founding member and deputy. Chairman of the supervisory board of Stadtentwicklungsgesellschaft Frechen GmbH and chairman of the supervisory board of Frechen GmbH, a mixed-economy company owned equally by the city of Frechen and the largest German waste disposal company, Remondis .

Garbage scandal

Fuß was involved in the Cologne garbage scandal. From January 2011 to April 2012, he served a prison sentence reduced to 15 months for good conduct and a prison sentence of two years and three months for aiding and abetting embezzlement, to which the Cologne regional court had convicted him in 2008 after six years of commercial criminal proceedings. Fuß had taken the ruling bsi to the highest instance - in vain: the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) confirmed the ruling in 2010; a complaint to the Federal Constitutional Court against the decision of the BGH was not accepted. The procedure cost Fuß his political career, but at least it was not a financial burden: he did not have to pay the litigation and appraisal costs in the millions. Fuß had helped to create black coffers in Switzerland for Trienekens AG (in which RWE Umwelt AG was involved at the time).
