Harlan is an impact crater on the southeastern edge of the lunar front , southwest of Abel crater and northeast of Marinus . The rim of the crater is moderately eroded, the interior flat.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 2000 after the American astronomer Harlan James Smith . Previously, the crater when it was Marinus D respectively.
