The armor , breastplate or armor called, is a common figure in heraldry and is very rare in heraldic shield .

The metal chest protector is shown as part of combat equipment.

The coat of arms figure is only in recent Heraldry application in the crest . The armor appears in the coat of arms of the Hessian nobility von Harnier (syllable B. in red and turned half to the right) and in that of the ennobled Prussian family von Bockelberg ( guard cuirassier ). This nobility had in the Black / Silver inclined gevierten launched a shield or an entire Kürassierrock (jacket) under the harness and two silver guns in the sign foot .
