Brnířov was first mentioned in a document in 1508 when the Riesenberg Castle was transferred to his son Břetislav after Půta Švihovský's death . After the end of the Thirty Years' War, the berní rula for the village of Brnířov, which is surrounded by the St. Wenceslas Forest, shows 37 residents.
In the second half of the 17th century, Polyxena von Lobkowitz, the wife of the notorious "Lomikar" Wolf Maximilian Laminger von Albenreuth , acquired the Riesenberg estate including Brnířov. In 1839 the village consisted of 30 houses and had 283 inhabitants. In 1888 the first railway ran from Klattau to Taus . In 1899 there were 298 people in Brnířov and in 1930 there were 352, of whom 350 belonged to the Czech ethnic group. American troops occupied the place on May 4, 1945. In 1960 Brnířov was incorporated into Kdyně , and since 1990 the place has been independent again.
