The Neumarker Pass ( Czech Všerubský průsmyk ) is a pass in the Czech part of the Cham-Further valley between the Bohemian Forest and the Upper Palatinate Forest .
geography
It is located near Brůdek ( Fürthel ) between Všeruby ( Neumark ) and Kdyně ( Neugedein ). The Neumarker pass connects the Neumarker sink ( Všerubská brána ), the highest peak of the Jezvinec ( Gewintzyberg , 739 m ) is, on the valley of the Hájecký creek to the northeast with the Neugedeiner groove ( Kdyňská brázda ), which in the Čerchovský -Forest ( Čerchovský les ) passes. To the south is the mountain Svatá Anna ( Tannaberg , 515 m ) with the church of St. Anna. The European main watershed between the Elbe and the Danube runs over the pass .
history
The Regensburger Steig led over the pass via Furth im Wald, an important medieval connection from Prague to Regensburg . In 1040 the Battle of Biwanka between the Czech and Imperial armies took place here. Duke Břetislav I managed to defeat the army of Henry III , which had broken out against him . to prevent the invasion of Bohemia.
In May 1945, American troops moved over the Neumarker Pass to Bohemia.
