history
The first written mention of the settlement of Brandý was in 1279 as the property of Diepold von Riesenberg . Brandýs was probably created at the same time as Riesenberg Castle as a toll station on the Regensburger Steig. With the relocation of the toll station to the south, Brandýs became extinct, the settlement was in the Rajčůr corridor in the northern periphery of Kout.
The village of Kout was first mentioned in 1514. In the following year, the first written reports about the Gut Kout with the festival (today Kout No. 1) and the farm (today Kout No. 59) can be found. The Bílka Pond can be found on a map from 1620. After the Battle of the White Mountain , the Riesenberg estate with the Kauth estate was confiscated and in 1621 left to Heinrich Burian von Guttenstein. This sold them to the imperial general Johann Philipp Cratz von Scharffenstein , who also took over the Záhořany estate. Cratz fell out with Albrecht von Waldstein and went over to Swedish services. In 1634 he was captured in the battle of Nördlingen and executed the following year in Vienna. His widow Anna Elisabeth left the heavily indebted Riesenberg rule to her brother Wilhelm Colonna von Fels. In 1641, Swedish troops captured and devastated Riesenberg Castle . Eleonore Barbara Maria Cratz von Scharffenstein, married Countess von Solms-Rödelheim , who had inherited her father's property, was not able to rebuild the destroyed castle. In 1670 the widow married Georg Wenzel Czernin von und zu Chudenitz , who sold the Riesenberg estate to Wolf Maximilian Laminger von Albenreuth in 1676 . Laminger gained the reputation of a cruel landlord by suppressing the Chod uprising of 1693. In 1697, his heirs sold the Lordship of Chodenschloß , Kauth and Zahoran to Heinrich Georg Reichsgraf von Stadion. The Counts of Stadion raised the allodial rule of Kauth and Chodenschloß to a family affiliation. The Bílka pond was drained in 1844.
After the abolition of patrimonial Kauth / Kouty formed from 1850 with the districts Neuhof / Nový Dvůr , Althof / Starý Dvůr and Riesenberg / Podzámčí a municipality in the judicial district of Neugedein. From 1868 the municipality belonged to the Taus district . At the beginning of the 20th century, the Czech name Kouty t. Kouto used, the current form of the name Kout na Šumavě was introduced in 1924.
The district Podzámčí was umgemeindet to Brnířov in 1961 . In 1963 the pond Novodvorský rybník (formerly called Bílka) was dammed again. Between 1985 and 1990 Spáňov belonged to Kout na Šumavě as a district.
