Mining

West of Všekary is an old mining area. The Charlotte iron mine was already in operation in the 18th century. The Charlotte union later also acquired the St. Barbara mine. After the First World War, the mining company Georg von Giesche's heirs , which specializes in zinc mining, took over the mine. The new shaft of the St. Barbara pit reached a depth of 300 meters. Galena, calamine and some pebbles were funded. Since the yield remained below expectations, the mining company had the Tscharlowitz and St. Barbara deposits reassessed by geophysicists. The unsuccessful result led to the closure of both mines in 1929. The director's villa in Charlotte was sold to the general director Müller of the Pilsner breweries, the shafts were kept and part of the open-cast buildings demolished. In the forest between St. Barbara's Church and the Charlotta settlement, there are relics of the earlier mining industry, including a weather shaft, the foundations of opencast mines and the remains of winding towers.
