history

The first documented mention of Hradec as the property of the Kladruby monastery comes from the year 1186. The place is much older and was an important Slavic settlement center from the 9th to the 13th century, from the remains of the old moats and ramparts of the six hectare castle hill were uncovered during excavations.

In 1284 Wenceslaus II handed over Hradec to the Chotěšov monastery . The Laurentiuskirche can be traced on the castle hill since 1298 and the first news about the St. Adalbert Church comes from 1354. In the 14th century a fortress was built next to the Laurentius Church.

In 1406 Hradec was the scene of a military conflict in which Provost Sulek, on behalf of King Wenceslas the Lazy , defeated King Ruprecht's Bavarian mercenary troops with a 7,000-strong army , which tormented the region. Due to the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War , the place became deserted and the monastery called German settlers into the country. In 1669 the Laurentiuskirche was expanded and received large windows and a tower. After repairs were carried out for the last time in 1768, this church was abandoned after the monastery was dissolved and later demolished for the construction of a settlement.

In 1910 the doctor W. Linhart opened a sanatorium in a villa, which was closed after the Second World War. The building now serves as a municipal office.

The parish Hradzen also included the surrounding places Strelitz , Lissowa and Honositz . In 1921 there were 628 inhabitants in Hradzen, 540 of them Germans who were expelled after the Second World War.

In the valley of the Mířovický potok there is an old quarry that is used as a bathing lake.
