Vlčtejn Castle

Vlčtejn (German Wildstein ) is a municipality with 98 inhabitants in the Czech Republic . It is located 5 km northwest of the town of Blovice and belongs to the Okres Plzeň-jih .

geography

Vlčtejn is located 520 m above sea level. M. on the hill of the same name crowned by the ruins of the Vlčtejn castle on the left above the Úslava valley . Neighboring towns are Chouzovy and Želčany in the north, Zdemyslice in the south-east and Chlum in the south-west. In the west, the village is affected by State Road 20.

history

The place was first mentioned in 1284 and was built under the Vlčtejn castle , which was rebuilt in the Gothic style in the 14th century. The place has been the scene of wars several times, for example when the Hussites under Jan Žižka occupied the castle in 1421 .

In 1450, the peace agreement between the defeated Strakonitzer Union under Ulrich II von Rosenberg and the Kalixtines under Georg von Podebrady took place at the castle . In the 16th century they were taken over by the Lords of Ruppau (in Czech z Roupova ). In 1611 Christoph Harant von Polschitz and Weseritz lived on the castle, which was then abandoned and fell into disrepair.
