history

According to a legend, there used to be a settlement called Osek, which was fenced in and then burned down after the plague broke out in it. Letin was first mentioned in a document in 1243 when Wenceslaus I left the estate to his doctor. A little later came Letiny the Gauburg Přeštice whose Sprengel Wenceslas sister Agnes the Kladruby had sold. Letiny has been a parish town since 1410. From 1420 the Letinský knights owned the village, followed by the Snopovský and the Pikhart von Grüntal.

In 1700 Rudolf Pikhart von Grüntal had a small castle built at the foot of the Rampich, from which a bathhouse was built in 1766. The widow Barbara-Franziska Pikhart brought the property into her marriage to Wenzel Freiherr Dejm von Střítěž. In 1717 Ferdinand Count Morzin acquired Letiny and added it to his property in Dolní Lukavice . Karl Graf von Morzin sold the manors to Carl Friedrich Hatzfeldt zu Gleichen and after his death in 1794 Hugo Damian Reichsgraf von Schönborn acquired the goods.

After the replacement of patrimonial Letiny became an independent municipality. Until 1923 the property belonged to the von Schönborn family.

At the end of the 19th century Letiny became a well-known health resort and its residents lived from tourism through the bath.

After the Second World War, the public baths were closed and the spa facilities of the psychiatric institution in Dobřany were connected.
