The spots Žinkovy (German Schinkau even Zinkau ) Six kilometers west of Nepomuk in the Plzeň-South District , Czech Republic . The cadastral area is 2,046 hectares.
geography
The village is at 530 m above sea level. M. in the valley of the Úslava , which is dammed in the place in the lake Labut ', also called Žinkovský rybník . State road 191 from Nepomuk to Klatovy runs through the village, to the north the state road 230 from Nepomuk to Přeštice passes.
Neighboring towns are Březí and Kokořov in the north, Nepomuk in the east, Nová Ves in the southeast, Vojovice and Čepinec in the south, and Osobovy and Radkovice in the west.
history
Although archaeological finds show that the area of today's Žinkovy was already around 2000 BC. The village was first mentioned in written sources in 1176. The Potštejn Castle was built between 1252 and 1259, the ruins of which have been preserved to this day.
In the 13th century Žinkovy received the rights of a market town. In 1559 the construction of the Žinkovy Castle began. The village owes its economic boom at that time mainly to the income of the local brewery, fish farming and the trade in cattle and grain. In 1684 large parts of the village including the church were destroyed by a large fire. However, Žinkovy Castle was spared.
On October 10, 2006, Žinkovy was raised to a stain .
Attractions

- Labut 'pond ( swan ) with an area of 62 ha.
- The originally Gothic church of St. Wenceslas ( kostel sv. Václava ) on the village square has been a parish church since 1352. After the fire in 1734, it was rebuilt in the Baroque style at the behest of Countess Marie Theresia von Vrtba . The architectural design is attributed to the builder F. J. Prée. The remarkable sculptures in the church were created by L. Widmann.
