The Úslava (German Uslawa , formerly Bradlawa , also Amselbach , Hnadschower Bach or Bradowa ) is a right tributary of the Berounka in the Czech Republic . On its upper reaches it is called up to Žinkovy Bradlava and then Žinkovka .

course

The Bradlava rises on the eastern slope of the Drkolná (729 m nm) in the Plánická vrchovina ( Planitzer Uplands ). Its source lies between Lukoviště and Nový Dvůr in the Okres Klatovy . On its upper course, the stream initially flows northeast to Číhaň , where it turns east and flows past Plánička, Vlčnov and Nová Hospoda to Zavlekovský Mlýn. To the northwest of Zavlekov , the Bradlava takes a northerly direction. Bradava, Skránčice, Hnačov , Voldřichova Cihelna, Zajícova Cihelna, U Hopa, Plánice and U Buckých follow along its course . At Červený Mlýn the brook flows into the Plánický hřeben nature park ( Planitz ridge ) and winds in several larger loops past Kratice, Chýlava, U Vorejtů, Újezd u Plánice , U Kalinů, Mlynářovice, U Řezáčků, Mlýnské Hranhadlosčávch and Franhadlolo Mlýn through the mountains. At Chudinka the Bradlava leaves the nature park in a north-easterly direction and flows past Štádlerův Mlýn, U Buchtelů, Radochovy, Partoltice, Na Pile, Čepinec, U Cihelny, the Žinkovy castle and the Potštejn castle ruins to Žinkovy .

On its subsequent course through the Nepomucká vrchovina ( Nepomuk Hills ), the stream is also called Žinkovka . It flows there via Kokořov and Novotníky to Prádlo , where it is crossed by European route 49 / state route I / 20 from Pilsen to Nepomuk . The course of the Žinkovka then leads on the southern edge of the Buková hora-Chýlava nature park and at the northern foot of the Zelená hora (536 m nm) below the Zelená Hora castle via Klášter , Batov, Dvorec, Huť and Nehovice to the east. The creek between Huť and Nehovice is bridged by the České Budějovice – Plzeň railway line.

At the mouth of the Myslívský potok, the Úslava changes its direction of flow to the north, where the river reaches a width of eight meters. The places Vrčeň , Srby , Vilémov, Myť, Ždírec , Žďár, Smederov, Stará Huť and Vlčice are located in its deep valley with several river bends; to the west is the Buková hora-Chýlava nature park. Your further course through the Blovická pahorkatina ( Blowitzer hill country ) leads in an increasingly wider meadow valley past Hradiště, Blovice , Bohušov, Mlýn Chudinka, Kamensko, Zdemyslice , Žákava and Malá Strana. In Nezvěstice the Úslava flows into the Kornatický potok nature park and is crossed by the Rokycany – Nezvěstice railway below the village .

The lower reaches of the Úslava runs between the Radyňská vrchovina and the Klabavská pahorkatina through to the northwest. Šťáhlavice, Vymrovka, Kozel Castle and Šťáhlavy follow along the river . The river then leaves the Kornatický potok nature park and flows below the ruins of Radyně castle past Bambousek, Sedlec, Malá Strana and Starý Plzenec . There the Hůrka (431 m nm) rises north of the Úslava valley, on which u. a. the remains of the early medieval Pilsen Castle are located; the southern slope of the hill is partially protected as a natural monument of Černá stráň . The D 5 motorway crosses the river at the Pilsen city limits . The Úslava then flows in a northerly direction past Čechurov, Koterov, Bručná, Buková, Božkov, Slovany, Vyšehrad, Lobzy, the eastern suburb ( Východní Předměstí ), Petrohrad, Letná and Doubravka on the eastern periphery of Pilsen through the Pilsen basin ); it is bridged northeast of the Pilsen main train station ( Plzeň hlavní nádraží ) by the Prague – Plzeň railway line. After 94.1 kilometers, the Úslava opens at the St. George Church in Pilsen-Doubravka against the Postal Pecihrádek in the Berounka .

The railway line České Budějovice – Plzeň runs between Nehovice and Pilsen on the left bank of the river.

There are no dams on the Úslava, the two large ponds Hnačovský rybník and Žinkovský rybník do not offer sufficient retention space during floods. During the summer floods of 2002 on August 13, 2002 at 7:00 am at the Koterov gauge, a water level of 3.71 m and a peak flow of 459 m³ / s were measured. The average amount of water at the mouth is 3.62 m³ / s.
