Čížkov ( German Tschischkau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers northeast of Nepomuk on the edge of the Brdy Forest and belongs to the Okres Plzeň-jih . The cadastral area is 4911 ha.
geography
Čížkov is located in a wooded hilly landscape at 578 m above sea level. M. on the upper reaches of the Čížkovský potok. To the north of Železný Újezd rises the 672 m high Na skále hill with a lookout tower.
Neighboring towns are Železný Újezd in the north, Chynín in the northeast, Radošice and Dožíce in the southeast, Měrčín in the south, Čečovice, Zahrádka and Smetalky in the southwest, and Přešín in the northwest.
history
Čížkov was first mentioned in 1237 in an exchange between the Kladruby monastery and Havel Markvartic . Since 1310, the Rosentaler can be traced as the owner, who sold the place to the Prague cathedral chapter in 1347. In the 16th century the property was divided. The town of Rokytzan acquired one of the shares from Jan von Vítenec in 1558. During the split in 1708, the Na podlesí Vorwerk , which belongs to the church, was built. After the city had also acquired the other part of Maurice Chanovský on Dlouhá Ves, Čížkov was reunited. In 1838 there were 480 people in Čížkov.
After patrimonial was replaced , the place became an independent municipality in 1850. In 1890 the population had increased to 612. In 1960 the surrounding places were incorporated.
The cultural life of the village is shaped by the "Republika Čížkov".
