Jarov (German Jarau ) is a municipality with 237 inhabitants in the Czech Republic . It is located seven kilometers northwest of the city of Nepomuk and belongs to the Okres Plzeň-jih . The cadastral area is 537 ha.
geography
The village is located 525 m above sea level. M. in a shallow hollow between the hills Chroustov (589 m) and Dus (582 m). To the east of the village runs the European route 49 / state road 20 from Pilsen to Nepomuk .
Neighboring towns are Čabuzí and Zhůř in the north, Měcholupy in the east, Prádlo , Novotníky and Chvostule in the southeast, Kokořov in the south, Březí in the southwest and Částkov and Svárkov in the west.
history
The first written mention of Jarov took place in 1558. However, the place is much older. The village probably belonged to the possessions of the Pomuk monastery and after its destruction in 1420 came together with most of the villages in the area to the rule Grünberg .
After the replacement of patrimonial Jarov became an independent municipality in 1850. Lessons began in the one-class village school in 1875, before the children were sent to Prádlo . In 1924 an amateur theater was founded in Jarov.
