history

The name Drahotín is one of the owner and clan names that far outweigh the natural names in Slavic names compared to German ones. Drahotín is derived from the personal name Drahota and the ending -ín means village of… So Drahotín means village of Drahota. The German name Trohatin is onomatopoeically aligned with the Czech Drahotín with small variations.

Drahotín probably formed their own estate together with Hora Svatého Václava, Načetín and Hvožďany u Poběžovic before the 13th century, which then came into the possession of the Starý Herštejn castle and in 1539 came to the rule of the Lobkowicz . Depending on the source, the first written mention of Drahotín is given in 1268 (according to Johann Gröbner) or 1635 (according to Ernst Richter).

1587 Drahotín is in Urbar listed the Lobkowicz with 31 yards.

In 1656 Drahotín recorded 12 farmers, 14 chalupners, 11 gardeners, 64 teams, 77 cows, 82 head of young cattle, 103 sheep and 141 pigs.

In 1789 Drahotín had 51 houses, in 1839 60 houses, 481 residents and two inns, in 1913 75 houses, 492 residents, 30 farmers, 4 Chalupners, 24 small farmers, 3 inns, 2 bottled beer stores, 3 shops, a blacksmith, a community poorhouse, 2 Carpenters, a wagon workshop, a miller, a cooper, 2 shoemakers, a heger, a hairdresser and a tobacconist. The main occupation was agriculture with horse and cattle breeding. Lime and serpentine were mined. Since 1906 Drahotín had a school with 110 children, which was the branch of Hora Svatého Václava. Drahotín belonged to the parish of Hora Svatého Václava.

After the Munich Agreement , Drahotín was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Bischofteinitz district .

In 2013 Drahotín had 199 inhabitants, an inn, a shop, a cultural center, a children's playground, a volleyball court, a public library, a health center with opportunities for horse riding, cycling and walking, and a sports club.
