history

The first written mention of the village was in 1379 as part of the Herštýn castle rule . The owners at that time were Ježek von Welhartitz's widow Ofka and his underage son Jan, who took over the rule in 1385. The next lord of the castle was Jan's son Půta von Welhartitz until 1465. His son Jan Herštýnský von Welhartitz started a feud with Duke Albrecht of Bavaria in 1472 , which worsened in the following years. In 1475 a Bavarian army captured Herštýn Castle and set it on fire. Jan Herštýnský von Welhartitz was later captured as a robber baron, imprisoned in Daliborka at Prague Castle and executed there.

After that the castle belonged to Půta Švihovský von Riesenberg . His son Břetislav sold the Herštýn estate with the associated villages of Úboč , Němčice, Vlkanov and Košenice in 1534 for 2,350 groschen to the town of Taus . Vlkanov burned down in the same year and remained desolate. Since the castle had become uninhabitable, the Únějovice fortress served as the administrative seat from 1538 . Because of the city's participation in the uprising against the Habsburgs, their goods were confiscated by the court chamber in 1547. Two years later, the Karlstein burgrave Sebastian Markvart von Hrádek acquired the Herštýn estate with the desert castle for 900 shock groschen. In 1626 the Herštýn reign, which was united with Únějovice, was joined to the Bystřice nad Úhlavou reign. Later, the Counts of Czernin von und zu Chudenitz acquired the goods and added them to the Chudenitz rule . The parish was Úboč since the 17th century. In a property register of Johann Rudolf Czernin von und zu Chudenitz from 1785, eleven farms, twelve chalupners, a smithy, an inn and a community poor house are listed for the village of Němčice.

In 1837 390 people lived in the 52 houses in Němčice. At the foot of the castle ruins Herštýn ( Herrnstein ) and four houses, the settlement of Herrnstein and Gibacht, in which 21 people lived, belonged to Němčice . In 1846 Němčice had the highest number of inhabitants in its history; the village consisted of 52 houses and had 445 inhabitants, most of whom lived from agriculture and forestry. Mezholezy remained subordinate to the Chudenitz rule until the middle of the 19th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Němčitz / Němčice 1850 with the hamlet Herrnstein / Herstein a municipality in the judicial district Neugedein. From 1868 the municipality belonged to the Taus district . The volunteer fire department was founded in 1896. In 1927 the place had 360 inhabitants. After the end of the Second World War, 17 families from Němčice moved to the border areas . In 1960 Němčice was subordinated to the Local National Committee Úboč. In the following year Úlíkov was added as a district. During this time the population steadily decreased; In 1970 180 people lived in Němčice, ten years later there were only 141. On July 1, 1979 Němčice was incorporated into Koloveč . Němčice and Úlíkov broke away from Koloveč on November 24, 1990 and formed the municipality of Němčice. Currently only 110 people live in the community; 99 of them in the Němčice district, nine in the Úlíkov district and two in Nový Herštejn. The average age in Nový Herštejn is 60 years, in Úlíkov 52 years and in Němčice 42 years.
