history

The first documentary mention of the place took place in 1289 as the property of Zdeslav of Osvračín, who is considered to be the progenitor of the Dobrohošť family of Ronšperk. His seat was the Osvračín Castle, which he probably also had built. One of the subsequent lords of the castle was Nechval von Osvračín in the years 1384-1394, who also held the copatronage for the local church. The lords of Osvračín held the castle until the beginning of the 15th century. After that, the owners often changed and did little to maintain the small castle. When Půta Švihovský acquired the Osvračín estate in 1475 and Švihov became part of his rule , the castle was in a poor state of construction. Since it had lost its importance as a noble residence, it was left to decay and has been considered desolate since the 16th century.

After the Osvračín estate was separated from Švihov, a fortified manor was built in the middle of the village in the middle of the 16th century. Osvračín consisted of 25 estates in 1657 and had 103 inhabitants. In the 18th century the barons Hildprandt von und zu Ottenhausen had the fortress redesigned into a simple late baroque palace. In 1785 the village had grown to 70 houses. In 1788 an own school was built in Osvračín, in 1792 69 children from Osvračín, Mimov and Močerady were educated there. After 1800 the property had no permanent ownership structure, during this time it was passed on between six different noble families. In 1838 Osvračín consisted of 100 houses. In 1841, the glass manufacturer Ziegler bought the property, which then remained in the family until 1945.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Osvračín / Wostratschin 1850 a municipality in the Klatovy district and jurisdiction Bischofteinitz . In 1857 a new school house was inaugurated. From 1868 the community belonged to the Bischofteinitz district . In 1913, 721 Czech-speaking people lived in the 126 houses in Osvračín. In 1930 the village had 692 inhabitants. In the 1930s, around 85–95 children were taught in the three-class village school. As a result of the Munich Agreement , Osvračín, which remained with the "remaining Czech Republic", was separated from the Bischofteinitz / Okres Horšovský Týn district in 1938 and assigned to the Taus / Okres Domažlice district until 1945.

Since the Okres Horšovský Týn was abolished in 1960, the village has belonged to Okres Domažlice . 1961 Mimov and Dohalice were umgemeindet from Lštění to Osvračín. From 1974 to 1990 Močerady also belonged to Osvračín as a district. In the 1991 census, the main town of Osvračín had 457 inhabitants, compared to 490 in 2001. Osvračín has a kindergarten and a primary school.
