history

Mnichov (German: Münchsdorf, also: Mönchsdorf, Minxdorf) was first mentioned in writing in 1435. In 1789 it belonged to the Stockau Chamber Administration Estate. It had a Holy Trinity Church that was built in 1728. In 1839 Mnichov had 65 houses and 476 inhabitants. This year a two-class school was built in the village. In 1913 there were 78 houses in Münchsdorf, 473 residents and the following saws, mirror grinding and polishing works: upper and lower woman's part, glass magazine, hammer loop, upper and lower hammer, Josef part, Ronkel loop, sand mill loop, Stockauer upper and lower works, upper and lower dog head, Mühllohschleife, Mirtlwerk, Neuwerk and Windschleife. Münchsdorf experienced a heyday at the beginning of the 20th century. When these plants were shut down between 1930 and 1935, many of the town's residents became unemployed. In 1939 Münchsdorf had 448 residents, two inns, two shops, two blacksmiths, two art mills , two carpenters and a bakery.

After the Munich Agreement , Münchsdorf was added to the German Empire and belonged to the Bischofteinitz district until 1945 .
