Haro Stepanjan

Haro Levoni Stepanjan ( Armenian Հարո Լևոնի Ստեփանյան ; Russian Аро́ Лево́нович Степаня́н ; * 13 April July / 25 April  1897 greg. In Jelisavetpol ; † January 9, 1966 in Yerevan ) was an Armenian composer .

Stepanyan studied until 1926 in Moscow with Mikhail Gnessin and until 1930 at the Leningrad Conservatory with Vladimir Shcherbachev . He then worked as a teacher at the Yerevan Conservatory .

In addition to five operas , he composed three symphonies , a piano concerto, a rhapsody for piano and orchestra, chamber music works, a cantata and numerous songs .
