Harold Webster

Harold Webster (born January 18, 1895 in Newhall , Derbyshire , † November 1958 ) was a Canadian marathon runner of British origin.

In 1927 he was second in his debut in 2:58:32 h in a national elimination race for the 1928 Olympic Games, he was ultimately not nominated. In 1930 he was fourth in the Boston Marathon and tenth over six miles at the British Empire Games in Hamilton .

In 1931 he won the Canadian elimination race for the Olympic Games in 1932 with his personal best of 2:37:46 h, but without starting the Games. In 1933 he was fourth again in Boston and won a marathon in Hamilton in 2:40:30.

In 1934 he won the national elimination race for the British Empire Games in London in 2:44:32, in which he won with a good four and a half minutes in 2:40:36.

In 1936 he was Canadian champion in 3:01:06 and thus qualified for the Olympic Games in Berlin , in which, however, he did not reach the goal.

In 1927 and 1929 he was Canadian champion over five miles, in 1931 over six miles.

He died as a result of head injuries sustained in a bicycle accident.
