Harper Ridge is a nearly ice-free, 3 km long and over 1800 m high mountain ridge in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Cook Mountains , it extends from the central section of the Finger Ridges north to the Yamagata Ridge .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2001 after Doyal A. Harper from the Yerkes Observatory , from 1991 head of astrophysical investigations in Antarctica for several years at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station .
