action

Just before Christmas, Riley Vance has to apply for a new job in New York City . Despite their qualifications and good work experience, this is difficult. By chance she heard that "Young-Corporated" had a job advertised. She introduces herself there and is actually hired as personal assistant to company boss William Young, who has been running the company since his father's death. Young is being closely watched by his shareholders as he now has to prove that he can fill in the footsteps of his recently deceased father. One expects him to close an unprofitable branch of the toy factory in Dover as quickly as possible.

Riley can get him to visit town to get a better idea of the factory and the work of the people who work there. Because the town and most of its people live from and for the toy factory, which is the town's largest employer. While Young decides to travel by motorcycle, Riley books a flight and arrives before her boss. She is quite taken with the family atmosphere of the small town.

Young, on the other hand, gets caught in a speed control and has to answer to the police. With this bad start and William's negative attitude, it is not easy for Riley to convince him that the toy factory must be preserved. But at the right moment she has a brilliant idea to significantly increase the company's sales, at least at Christmas time, which even convinces the skeptical Young to give it a try. But that alone is not enough to save the branch in the long term. Santa Claus, who is present in the village, gives us the thoughtful hint that one can often achieve the greatest goals with the simplest means. Riley should awaken that Christmas feeling in William Young, which he had long lost, then the rest would come naturally.

Since Riley and William spend a lot of time together, they soon fall in love without admitting it to each other. Negative press reports result in a setback in the toy factory's initial sales success, just as an untruth in Riley's attitude changes William Young's inner relationship with her. But Riley succeeds in proving to William that she is exactly the right person for the job that she got under the wrong conditions and that her commitment to save the toy factory was spot on. Now that online sales can also be boosted, sales and the company's future are secured. William and Riley speak out and admit their love.

criticism

According to Cinema , there is a "purification that has been seen a thousand times before" in the film. It was also said that the “biggest problem with the kitschy love story” is that “the chemistry between the main actors is not right” and came to the conclusion: “Clichéd and without any charm.”

Filmdienst .com spoke of a "harmless [n], predictable [n] comedy about the transformation of a public holiday Muffels, who on top of that the woman is for life. Sympathetically cast, but without any claim ”.
