The Harreslev danske kirke (in German: Danish Church Harrislee ) is a church building of the Evangelical Lutheran Danish Church in South Schleswig ( Danish Dansk Kirke i Sydslesvig ) in the village of Harrislee ( Harreslev ) near Flensburg .

building

The church is relatively young and was only consecrated in 1994. It was built in the original village center of Harrislee, in the area between Westerstrasse, Petersilienweg and Achter de Möhl. The oldest church in Harrislees, the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Reconciliation , and the also older Roman Catholic Church of St. Anna are located near the new center of the community .

The Danish architects Finn Schmidt and Finn Aaskov from Aabenraa were behind the construction of the Danish church. The building is characterized by light colors and a functional design language. The building includes both the church and other community rooms. Instead of a church tower, the building has a bell gable . The interior of the church was designed by Thorkild Have. With a glass roof turret and several side openings, the church interior appears bright and clear. The altar and the surrounding altar barrier ( old age patients ) are arranged in the center. The altar, like the pulpit and the baptismal font, is made of solid oak. Around the altar are three paintings by the artist Martin Quist, which show the three phases of Jesus' life before, during and after the crucifixion . The organ comes from a friendly community in Ans near Silkeborg . The suspended nave is a model of the historic Norske Løve . The room is designed for around 80 visitors, but can be expanded by including an adjoining room.

local community

Danish services were held again in Harrislee as early as 1921. The congregation has had its own pastor since 1952. In addition to the Danish congregation in Harrislee, the pastorate also includes one in neighboring Handewitt ( Hanved danske menighed ).

The parish is part of the Danish Church in South Schleswig. This is an association of several Danish Evangelical Lutheran congregations in southern Schleswig and does the church work for the Danish southern Schleswig . The communities in southern Schleswig are organizationally subordinate to the Haderslev Monastery.
