Harrisia martinii is a species of plant in the genus Harrisia fromthe cactus family (Cactaceae). The specific epithet martinii honors the French cactus lover Raymond Martin from Toulouse .

Harrisia martinii grows richly branched with spreading, green to gray-green shoots that reach lengths of up to 2 meters and more with diameters of 2 to 2.5 centimeters. Young shoots are tapered to a point and four to five-sided. Older shoots are round. The single strong, yellowish central spine has a darker tip and is 2 to 3 centimeters long. The five to seven radial spines are significantly shorter.
The flowers reach a length of up to 20 centimeters. Your pericarpel is covered with scales and brown wool. The more or less spherical, red fruits are tuberous and have scales and thorns.
Distribution, systematics and endangerment
Harrisia martinii is widespread in Paraguay and in the Argentine provinces of Formosa , Chaco , Corrientes , Entre Ríos and Santa Fe in the Chaco vegetation. In 2007 the species was first found in Brazil.
It was first described as Cereus martinii in 1854 by J. Labouret . Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose put the species in the genus Harrisia in 1917 . A nomenclature synonym is Eriocereus martinii (Labor.) Riccob. (1909).
In the Red List of Threatened Species of the IUCN , the species is listed as " Least Concern (LC) ". H. listed as not endangered.
