Harro Müller (* 1943 ) is a German specialist in German .

Life

He completed his studies in German, history and philosophy with a doctorate in 1975 in Cologne . After completing his habilitation in Bielefeld in 1979, has been teaching at Columbia University since 1991 . He was visiting professor at Cornell University (1982), Emory University (1987), Bordeaux University (1988) and Columbia (1991). From 1991 to 2008 he was Vice President of the Weimar Research Group at the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris. He was editor-in-chief of the Germanic Review (1996–2002) and chairman of the department (1996–1999).

His areas of teaching and research include: history of modern literature and culture from 1750 to the present day; Literary theory (hermeneutics, intellectual history, critical theory, post-structuralism, deconstruction, discourse theory, systems theory, history of literary criticism)
