The Harrop Tarn lies in a cirque west of Thirlmere and east of the Blea Tarn .
The Ullscarf Gill flows from the south into the Harrop Tarn, the Mosshause Gill flows on its north side and an unnamed tributary flows on its west side. The Dob Gill forms its drain on the east side.
