Harry Evelyn Dorr Pollock

Harry Evelyn Dorr Pollock (born June 24, 1900 in Salt Lake City , † March 15, 1982 ) was an American anthropologist and archaeologist . As such, he made a contribution to the study of Mayan culture with his life's work .

Life

Pollock was a son of James Albert Pollock and Evelyn Prince Dorr. He studied anthropology at Harvard University and graduated with a Ph.D. In 1927 he went to the Yucatán with Sylvanus Morley's team and began his work in Chichen Itza . On site, he met Eric Thompson and Jean Charlotte . Later he also worked closely with Tatiana Proskouriakoff and Alfred Tozzer .

In 1940 he married Katherine Winslow. From the marriage the son Harry Winslow Pollock was born.

In 1966, Pollock was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
