Harry McClintock

Harry McClintock (* 8. October 1882 in Knoxville , Tennessee ; † 24. April 1957 in San Francisco , California ), also known as Haywire Mac , was a US -American composer .

Life

McClintock was born and raised in Knoxville , Tennessee . He later moved to New Orleans , where he wrote some of his later hits as a teenager. He was inspired by the tramps, called "hobos" or "bums", whose stories and everyday life McClintock processed in the songs. He became extremely popular as the presenter of a daily children's program on the KFRC music channel called Mac and his Gang, especially with children and young people from the mid-1920s. His most famous song is Big Rock Candy Mountain . McClintock played other popular folk songs like Hallelujah! For Victor Records in the late 1920s . I'm A Bum or the Bum Song . Big Rock Candy Mountain was featured in the 2000 film O Brother, Where Art Thou? related to the opening.
