Harry Vickers

Harry Vickers (actually: Harry Franklin Vickers ; born October 10, 1898 in Red Lodge (Montana) , ( USA ); † 1977 ) was an American engineer and industrialist. He is considered to be one of the founders of modern technical hydraulics .

At the age of 23 he founded in 1921, the Vickers Manufacturing Company in Los Angeles , which later in Vickers Inc. renamed. Around 1925 he developed the first power steering , and his double-stroke vane pump was built into an Oldsmobile as standard . In 1930 he invented the first pilot operated pressure relief valve .

1937 Vickers Inc. was an exchange of shares of the Sperry Corporation - Holding and Harry Vickers its vice president, in 1952 its president.
