Harry Wills (born May 15, 1889 in New Orleans , † December 21, 1958 in New York ) was an American heavyweight boxer .

He was about 100 kg heavy and so good that the much smaller champion Jack Dempsey didn’t take on him. (See Peter Jackson (boxer) )

Wills defeated Sam Langford , also a dangerous African American who did not get a title fight, and the Argentine Dempsey challenger Luis Firpo several times .

At the end of his career some whites dared to compete against him and he was defeated by Jack Sharkey and Paolino Uzcudun .

In 1992 he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame .
