Hartmut Boettcher (born March 8, 1937 in Neustadt an der Orla , Thuringia ) is an administrative farmer and animal breeding manager for pig breeding .

biography

Boettcher comes from a farm. After graduating from secondary school in Neustadt an der Orla, he studied agriculture at the University of Halle / Saale from 1955 to 1960 (with practical training at Gut Tornau near Halle) and graduated as a qualified farmer. This was followed by three years as a zoo technician in a main animal breeding estate in the Weißenfels district and one and a half years as a scientific assistant at the animal breeding institute of the University of Jena with Professor Fritz Hofmann.

From 1965 Boettcher worked in pig breeding in Thuringia. He built up the mobile ultrasound measuring service for Thuringia, passed the state animal breeding manager examination in 1970 and became department head and deputy head of the pigs department at VEB Tierzucht Erfurt in 1971. Here he was involved in the new breeding of the Schwerfurter meat breed and the extensive breeding value test of the inseminators over the station and in the field. He worked as an "attentive user" in the central working group for the pig IT system at the computer center of the Vereinigung Volkseigener Betriebe (VVB) Tierzucht in Paretz . In 1991 he became a consultant, in 1995 he was head of the pigs division - then in the Thuringian State Institute for Agriculture (TLL) - and was breeding manager in the newly founded Thuringian Pig Breeding and Production Association (TSPV) until his retirement in 2002. He continues to deal with special tasks for the development of East German pig breeding, especially in Thuringia and Saxony-Anhalt. He also contributes through extensive research to supplement biographical databases in the field of agriculture and veterinary medicine.

Activity and documentation

Boettcher has compiled a comprehensive documentation of pig breeding in Thuringia from over 40 years of activity. It has been partially published in several history books of the former Thuringian State Institute for Agriculture (TLL) Jena since 1997, but is fully stored in the German Pig Museum in Ruhlsdorf (City of Teltow near Berlin). This concerns, among other things, 70 breeder CVs and over 60 descriptions of breeding farms or regions. He was also involved with 42 contributions to annual reports on pig breeding and production in his region (for example Leicoma ). For Saxony-Anhalt, he also created descriptions of pig breeding in 100 places or regions and the entire area.
