history

The original breed shares consist of 44 percent of the German landrace and the Dutch landrace , 46 percent of Duroc , six percent of the Estonian bacon and five percent of the German saddle pig .

The new breed (synthetic line) was conceived as part of the GDR hybrid breeding program by the new breed work group (head: Gunther Nitzsche ) of the WTZ Ruhlsdorf and scientifically supported until it was recognized in 1986.

In the first stage of breeding (1971–1975) the breeds German saddle pig (DS), Dutch landrace (NL) and Estonian bacon breed (EB) were combined. The DS and EB breeds laid the foundation for high fertility and environmental stability. In the second breeding stage from 1976 onwards, the breeds Duroc (DU) and Deutsche Landrace (DL) were included and the growth intensity and meat abundance were improved. In the further in-self breeding, selection was made with high intensity. The breed that emerged from line 250 served as a mother breed in the rotational cross with the German Edelschwein and the German Landrace. A three- breed crossing was used with the German Edelschwein and the Schwerfurter meat breed to produce fattening piglets. The effectiveness of the hybrid breeding program of the GDR was expressed in the provision of 19% of the sold sperm portions. In 1985 4,000 herd book sows were registered. Line 250 was the most fertile dam line from the start. It has particular advantages in terms of meat quality. The intramuscular fat content is the most favorable at 1.7–1.8% according to Duroc.

The breed is still bred in the breeding associations of Central Germany and Baden-Württemberg and used in three-breed and single crosses with Pi boars. Since 2006 she has been involved in its own quality program as a mother breed in the Baden-Württemberg Breeding Association .
