Hartmut Eichel (born February 10, 1952 in Wolmirstedt ) was a soccer player at 1. FC Magdeburg , with whom he was GDR junior champion in 1970. Due to injury, he was only able to play one game in the East German league , the highest East German division. He was then a football coach for several communities.

Athletic career

Eichel grew up in the rural community of Loitsche , 20 kilometers north of Magdeburg , and began to play football there for the tractor company sports association. At the age of 15, he came to 1. FC Magdeburg, the region’s football focus, through BSG Kali Wolmirstedt. With the junior league team, Eichel was GDR champion in 1970. After he was eligible to play for the men's area, he came there on April 12, 1970 in the point game of the 2nd team against Chemie Wolfen (1: 1) in the second-rate GDR league for the first time. In the 1969/70 season he was called up a total of four times in the 2nd team, alternating in midfield and in attack. His only league game played Eichel in the following season on September 19, 1970. In the encounter of the 5th match day 1. FCM - Stahl Riesa (2-2) he was substituted in the 59th minute for midfielder Klaus Decker . After a collision with a player from Riesa, he fell so unhappy that he had to be treated for medical treatment after the game because of severe hip pain. The real cause, a heavy bruise in the hip area, was discovered too late, so that the glans suffered permanent damage. Since then, one leg has been stiff from the hip, and Eichel had to retire as an active soccer player.

Eichel has been a member of the Sports Court of the Saxony-Anhalt Football Association for several years. He continues to maintain contacts with his former Magdeburg teammates and organizes the meetings of the FCM junior champions from 1970.
