Harvey Goldstein

Harvey Goldstein (born October 30, 1939 in London - † April 9, 2020 ) was a British statistician from the University of Bristol . He conducted research in the field of social and educational statistics and was best known for his work on the subject of multilevel analysis and the development of the MLwiN program (together with Jon Rasbash).

Goldstein took an active part in the public debate about ways out of the climate crisis ; he signed in October 2018 an open letter to the British government a failure in climate protection is alleged that Extinction rebellion - one for civil disobedience calling on the climate issue grassroots movement - supported and decarbonising the economy is required. Since 1996 he has been a member of the British Academy . The Open University awarded him an honorary doctorate in 2001.

Goldstein died in 2020 at the age of 80 during the COVID-19 pandemic of the consequences of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
