Harviestoun Castle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Harviestoun Castle was a mansion near the Scottish town of Tillicoultry in the Council Area of Clackmannanshire . The building originally dates from the 18th century and was expanded for the first time in 1804, including two one-story wings. Further expansion was carried out in the 1860s with the addition of a library and a porch. In 1865 a fire destroyed Harviestoun Castle and the ruins were demolished in 1970. The main building was last three-story with windows on five vertical axes and closed with turrets on the edges. The lower wings were also provided with turrets. Individual parts of the building showed elements of the Tudor style . Today only a few outbuildings remain, of which both the farm and the stables are listed as individual structures in the Scottish monument lists in category B.
