The Harwood's Mill Reservoir (also known as Harwood Mills Reservoir is known) is a reservoir in York County in the US state of Virginia .
It's within Newport News Park . He is the water supplier for the county town of Newport News . Its area is 1.04 square kilometers. The water supply is fed to the Harwoods Mill Reservoir by the reservoirs of Camp Chickahominy Lake , Diascund Creek Reservoir and Little Creek Reservoir , in addition to the tributary of the Poquoson River .
In order to avoid algae formation, copper sulphate is added to the lake on a regular basis . The Virginia State Route 620 divides the lake in two areas, which make use of the local water protection authorities as an aid to certain characteristics to distinguish the habitat of various plant and fish species. The northern part has an abundance of bald cypress trees . This area also has a high population of real perch . Due to the larger open space in the southern section, the American perch and the sea bass Morone americana (white perch) can be found here to a greater extent .
Not far west of Harwoods Mill Reservoir is Newport News / Williamsburg International Airport .
