Haslach (Villingen-Schwenningen)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Haslach is a district of Villingen-Schwenningen in the Black Forest-Baar district in Baden-Württemberg .

Geography and name

The name "Haslach" is derived from the old German "Hasala" for hazelnut trees that grew mainly in damp places ("pool"). This relates to the Ziegelbach, which borders the district to the east, as well as the hazelnut bushes that were widespread before the development. On July 4, 1985, the previously used spelling Haßlach was finally changed to Haslach .

The Haslach is located in the north of the Villingen district, around three kilometers from the city center. In the east, the Haslach is bordered by the Ziegelbach and a wide green strip opposite the neighboring district of Wöschhalde , to the south by Berliner Straße, to the west by the L178, which connects Villingen with the district of Obereschach. In the north, the Haslach borders on forest and agricultural areas.

The district extends in a north-south direction for around 1000 meters and in an east-west direction for around 500 meters at an altitude of between 725 m and 760 m to the north.

history

The district was developed as a purely residential area at the end of the 1950s and built on with single and multi-family houses in the following years. In the 1960s, the district of Wöschhalde was founded on the eastern slope . Both parts of the city use different educational institutions together. This includes the Haslachschule (elementary school) founded in 1963 and the Am Ziegelbach day-care center .
