Hassan and Markus ( Arabic حسن ومرقص) is a 2008 Egyptian religious comedy in which two of the greatest Arab film stars, Adel Imam and Omar Sharif , take on the leading roles.

Boulos is a Christian priest and Sheikh Mahmoud is a Muslim preacher. They both survive an assassination attempt and have to change their identities to avoid further attacks. Boulos receives the identity of a Muslim and becomes Hassan, Sheikh Mahmoud that of a Christian and becomes Markus. They and their families move into the same house and become friends. Entanglements arise in the course of which it becomes increasingly difficult for both of them to conceal their true identity.

Despite its controversial subject matter, the film was a huge commercial success in Egypt, but both main characters were accused of blasphemy by conservative religious circles . Adel Imam, whose son Ramy directed Hassan and Markus , changed his place of residence at short notice in order to escape possible attacks.
