The Hasselblad Foundation (Swedish: Erna och Victor Hasselbladstiftelsen ) is an independent, not-for-profit foundation based in Gothenburg .

Founded in 1979, its purpose is to promote research and academic teaching in the natural sciences and photography. The foundation also presents the Hasselblad Award to a photographer each year , endowed with SEK 1 million  . Göran Bengtsson is the chairman of the board of directors.

The foundation's assets come from the Hasselblad heir Victor Hasselblad († 1978), whose marriage to Erna Nathhorst remained childless.

Scholarships

The foundation has been awarding the Victor Fellowships for professional and artistic development outside Scandinavia since 2004 .

The Grez-sur-Loing grant allows a Swedish photographer to spend September and October at the Hôtel Chevillon near Fontainebleau .

The San Michele grant grants a stay in the Villa San Michele on Capri.

In addition, the foundation has been awarding a grant for nature photography since 2009 .
