Barbara Müller-Kageler

Barbara Müller-Kageler (born June 30, 1938 in Berlin ) is a German artist and university professor .

Life

Barbara Müller-Kageler was born in Berlin and grew up there. From 1957 to 1960 she studied art education at the Humboldt University in Berlin and from 1963 to 1966 painting at the Berlin-Weißensee School of Art . From 1962 to 1982 she held an artistic teaching position at the Humboldt University in Berlin. From 1982 she taught at the Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weißensee, from 1993 until her retirement in 2003 as a professor.

Barbara Müller-Kageler moves in her oil paintings between figuration, landscape and abstraction. Her main theme is the sea on the content side, and the fine nuances of the color gray on the formal side. She transforms groups of figures and landscape elements of her beach scenes into well thought-out structures made of basic geometric shapes.

Barbara Müller-Kageler was a member of the Association of Visual Artists from 1967 to 1990 . She was married to the set designer Hans-Helmut Müller until his death in 2009 . Their son is the painter and graphic artist Felix Müller . She lives and works in Berlin-Adlershof.
