Hasso (I) from Wedel-Uchtenhagen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hasso (I.) von Wedel-Uchtenhagen († 1364 ) was a Vogt of Neumark .

Hasso von Wedel was a son or, less likely, a grandson of the Pomeranian court marshal Wedego von Wedel from the Wedel family , and in the second case possibly a son of the New Mark bailiff Wedego von Wedel and his wife Kunigunde.

On October 7, 1352, he was appointed captain of the lands over the Oder by Margrave Ludwig in Küstrin, succeeding the late Hasso von Wedel-Schivelbein . Its factual influence did not extend to the whole of Neumark, because the area on the Warta and Netze was ruled by Betekin von der Osten (-Driesen). The margrave made extensive concessions to Wedel by entrusting him with the collection of all Neumark revenues and making every act of sale, pledging and lending dependent on his consent. The fact that the provincial governance was transferred to the knight Otto von Schlieben on April 7, 1353 indicates that Wedel was primarily a pawnshop between the insolvent margrave and one of his creditors.

Wedel was appointed captain von Schivelbein on April 26, 1354 with instructions to maintain 100 men in military armor there, in the immediate vicinity of the Pomeranian border.
