Hato Schmeiser

Hato Albert Thomas Valentin Schmeiser (born March 4, 1968 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) is a German economist and university professor. The main focus of his work is insurance and risk management .

Career

After graduating from high school , Schmeiser began studying business administration at the University of Mannheim in 1987 , which he completed in 1993. He then moved to the University of Passau , where he did his doctorate in 1997 under Jochen Wilhelm on solvency regulations for non-life insurers at European level. After completing his dissertation, he started working for GE Frankona , where he was employed until 1999. He then returned to the scientific work environment and worked as an assistant to Helmut Gründl at the chair for insurance and risk management at the Humboldt University in Berlin . In 2003 he completed his habilitation there under the title “Risk Controlling and Value-Oriented Management in the Financial Services Sector”.

Schmeiser then accepted a call from the University of Münster , where he held the chair for business administration from 2004. In 2005 he moved to the University of St. Gallen as a full professor of business administration . There he holds the Chair for Risk Management and Insurance Economics and is also director of the Institute for Insurance Economics.
