Haukur Clausen

Haukur Clausen (born November 8, 1928 in Reykjavík ; † May 1, 2003 ibid) was an Icelandic athlete who took fifth place in the 100-meter run at the European Athletics Championships in 1950 .

At the Olympic Games in London in 1948 , Haukur Clausen was eliminated in the 100-meter run in the quarter-finals, in the 200-meter run and with the Icelandic 4 x 100 meter relay , he did not survive the preliminary run.

Two years later at the European Championships in Brussels in 1950, Haukur Clausen fought his way over 100 meters to the finals, where he finished fifth in 10.8 seconds, the four runners placed in front of him were stopped in 10.7 seconds. With the sprint relay, Haukur Clausen finished second in the Icelandic national record of 41.7 seconds behind the relay from the Soviet Union, but ahead of the relay from the United Kingdom. In the final, the repetition of this time would have been enough for silver behind the Soviet relay, the relay just missed its national record in 41.9 seconds and finished in fifth place.

With a height of 1.82 meters, his competition weight was 75 kilograms. Haukur Clausen's twin brother, Örn Clausen, was also a track and field athlete.
